Napstar and Itunes were one of the first internet/computer sites that sold music. People could simply download music appose to going to the music stores and purchasing CDs and singles. These sites have almost revolutionized the people purchased and hear music. The internet and these programs changed that. Chris Anderson talked with Vann-Adibe the CEO of Digital jude box, Ecast. Anderson was amazed at the success of the site. This sites has about 10,000 albums and 98 percent of tracks that get downloaded by customers. Anderson was shocked how the cure never quite got to zero. It might have been close but not quite. With selling music on the internet to people, it actually cuts cost down, from when you sell them in record stores. You do not have to worry about the cost of packaging. The cost of that is close to zero. You also do not have to worry about the cost of shipping and storage. So in the long run it is cheaper for the distributor. This might also change how music is received by people. You can take from this article that, people are down loaded music that may not necessarily be popular, but people are downloading them be the costs are cheaper than buying CD’s at the record store. This might suggest that consumers are buying a wider range of music, instead of the most popular music at the time. CDs can sell out, and then the record would be out of those products. With this service, its like an unlimited amount of music, being distributed. Anderson found out a lot of interesting facts about consumer behavior in his research. He found out that consumers like an unlimited selection. The more that they have to select from, the more they want to get. Like I stated earlier, consumers are starting to see a whole other type of music. The consumers got away from main stream, and found another type of music. I think what the author is trying to say is that the market is always reinventing itself. With sites like google, itunes, ebay, etc., there are numerous ways to purchase and find things. Despite the economy, people are still purchasing items, I think it is safe to say that they are trying to find an easier way. I think the main idea of this article how the internet is changing how people are purchasing items around the world. I got this information from business summaries.
