Zakiah Williams June 10, 2009 CSI 110 Twitter/BLOG Twitter is a social network that can send and instantly receive messages. I personally had a hard time adjusting to these social networks. To me they were not something that I was interested in. In CSI 110, we had to set up a Twitter account for class. This is one social network that I can see myself being apart of. I like it because it is like mass texting. I also like the feature of it being instant. I like the instant gratification of this network. According to Wikepedia, Twitter has 4 to 5 million users. Twitter was rated one of the third most used social networks. That is according to 2009 Compete.com blog entry. Twitter has experienced technical problems, due to the growing number of users in 2007. Users of Twitter has said both positive and negative things about Twitter and its features. They have said it is a good way to keep in contact with busy friends. They have said the negative aspect of it is that this social network, is to consuming. Meaning that they often check there messages at odd hours of the night. This will, or has caused high cell phone bills. Fans have complained about these overages due to messages, such as somebody saying, that they just got finish eating dinner. So I guess after a while it gets a little tedious, with certain messages. That is the negative side of tweeting. This would be ideal for meetings for work. Like I said earlier, this would be good for sending out a message to everyone. This is good if you are trying to send a message to a large amount of people any where. 56% of people never posted a message. 56% aren’t following anyone. 53% have no followers at all. I think this shows that people sign up but don’t follow up with there accounts. People probably hear about it, then they get excited and sign up. Some people don’t follow up with it. People probably don’t have the time to write it. That is one of the reasons why I don’t have social networks. I personally don’t have the time or the desire to keep up with these networks. I got this information from Tech chronicl. Ashton Kutcher is the most followed celebrity on Tweeter. To me, when celebrities are on these social networks it makes the network more appealing to join. It is almost like free advertising for the network. The media also uses Twitter to inform the public on what is going on in the news. The New Scientist did some research and it was found that Tweeter, wasn’t as effective in getting messages out in emergencies. I guess BLOGS, maps, photos site, etc. were more effective in emergencies. That was the down side of Twitter. Twitter is one of the more newer social networks out there. It is a way to keep people informed. I am not going to lie, people don’t need to know what anyone is doing at every point of the day. People don’t necessarily need to no what I ate for dinner, or what I had for lunch. In return don’t need or want to know that about any one else. I guess if it was a celebrity, I wouldn’t mind finding that information. This is just another way of keep tabs on celebrities. We will see how long this last for!
Zakiah, you posted this as a comment to an empty blog entry which doesn't show up in my reader. Spend a little time going through the Blogger Help section and practicing.
Also, there are a lot of sentences but the overall essay is largely unstructured. Use the standard 3 part thesis / 5 paragraph structure. I tweeted links to that or you can just google "5 paragraph paper".
Also, cite where you got which information specifically with links.
